Dan Hodge discusses local economic development solutions on SMGraves Associates podcast

Executive Vice President Dan Hodge discussed the latest on economic development, shedding light on what the data tells us about transportation, clean energy, and urban renewal such as the Gateway Cities initiative in Massachusetts on the podcast ‘Are We Here Yet?’ hosted by independent consultancy SMGraves Associates.

In conversation with Scott M. Graves, Dan answered a range of questions focusing on the impacts of Covid-19 on the transportation system, opportunities to expand passenger rail, and a host of downtown and larger-scale development projects and programs for local economies.

Dan Hodge comments,

I enjoyed the opportunity to participate in my first podcast as Executive Vice President of Cambridge Econometrics, talking about some of the most pressing issues affecting local economies, and discussing opportunities and strategies available for smaller towns like Turners Falls as well as some of New England’s bigger cities like Worcester and Springfield.

Solutions identified through Dan’s strategic economic advisory work included prioritizing public and private investments in downtowns through the Massachusetts Rapid Recovery Plan process. Dan also illustrated the redevelopment opportunities and challenges for mill redevelopment and build-out scenarios of vacant land at Ludlow Mills and the anchor institution equitable economy strategy being led by the Western Mass EDC to boost local spending and hiring.
